UTILITIES MANAGEMENT

Columbia Utilities has served the utility needs of the City of Columbia.

The Adair County Water District was formed by an order of the Fiscal Court in October 1971. The Water District has grown to serve over 8,250 customers and covers over 500 miles of water lines and over 26 miles of sewer lines.

In 2009 the City and County held discussions and decided to join the two systems to form the
Columbia/Adair Utilities District. General Manager for the Water District Lenny Stone under advice and guidance from County Judge Ann Melton, Mayor of Columbia Pat Bell and Attorney Damon Talley led the efforts to merge the two systems. On July 30, 2010 the two became one with a goal to serve the water and sewer needs of Adair County.
